Summary of the Role

The Platform Engineer for Empyrean Solutions has primary responsibility for supporting customers and managing, maintaining, and improving the Azure cloud infrastructure which supports production but can span the scope to other non-production like QA, development etc. The candidate will use ticketing tools like ServiceDesk Plus, Linear and Notion to triage tickets and projects. The candidate may also work on Azure Cloud infrastructure to build high-quality, innovative, and fully performing automation systems, following industry best practices and Empyrean security standards. Candidates need to be able to contribute to existing cloud and IT infrastructure and research new ones. Platform responsibilities will include managing/maintaining/troubleshooting existing infrastructure and IT processes, installation instructions and documenting functionality and above all supporting production customers.


The position will be supporting clients in the United States, so, hours of work will be 12.00 PM to 8.00 PM Monday though Friday.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities                                          

  • Support production customers and internal users; involves use of tools like ServiceDesk Plus, Linear and Notion

  • Triage customer tickets as well as internal ones

  • Troubleshooting production and customer support issues related to application, infrastructures, connectivity, and cloud provider

  • Analyze current technology utilized within the company and develop steps and processes to improve and expand upon them

  • Implementing various automation & monitoring tools, IT infrastructure, and disaster recovery & backup support

  • Perform day-to-day cloud and IT activities like provisioning and managing users, databases, backups, environments etc.

  • Defining and setting up development, test, release, update, and support processes for operations

  • Monitoring the processes during the entire lifecycle and updating or creating new improved processes

  • Encouraging and building automated processes wherever possible

  • Identifying and deploying cybersecurity measures by continuously performing vulnerability assessment and risk management

  • Incident management and root cause analysis

  • Provisioning and managing client-specific resources

  • Managing periodic reporting to management and customers

  • Managing patch management processes and executing them in a timely manner

  • Gather evidence for SOC Type 2 controls

  • Review policies and controls for SOC Type 2 audit

  • Implement and maintain security best practices

  • Assist sales team with answering IT questionnaires

  • Manage shared responsibilities for Azure Cloud

  • Implement data safeguards with IDS/IPS/DLP tools

  • Document processes and procedures

  • Remain up to date on industry trends, share knowledge among teams, and abide by industry best practices for configuration management and automation

Required Education

  • A minimum of a level 8 equivalent degree in Computer Management, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Networking, or related field of study.

Experience Requirements

Empyrean is open to exceptional candidates with no experience. Experience in following or similar areas are a plus:

  • Experienced in Microsoft Stack and Azure Cloud

  • Web server tools (IIS, Azure App Service)

  • Configuration Management Tools

  • Vulnerability Scanning tools like Tenable Nesus

  • Security Tools

  • Patch Management

  • Windows Server Management

  • IT Ticket Management tools

  • Version Control Tools

  • Scripting tools (Bash/Shell, PowerShell, Python, Yaml)

  • Infrastructure as Code

  • Knowledge of systems engineering tools

  • Communicating accurately and professionally both orally and in written form

  • Managing multiple projects and issues at one time

  • Working well independently with minimal supervision while also functioning as an integral part of a team
